Cabana Boy Rockaway — Severe Weather Policy

At Cabana Boy Rockaway, the safety of our customers, staff, and equipment is our top priority. Beach weather can change extremely quickly, especially during periods of extreme heat, and thunderstorms can develop with very little warning.

Thunderstorms & Beach Evacuations

When thunderstorms occur, the Parks Department requires all people and beach equipment to evacuate the beach. This means that Cabana Boy Rockaway is required to remove all rental equipment from the beach when thunderstorms create an unsafe condition.

This requirement applies regardless of how long the rental has been in progress and regardless of whether the storm is expected to be short-lived.

Because thunderstorms can be accompanied by lightning, heavy rain, and dangerous wind gusts, we may need to begin breaking down and removing equipment as soon as severe weather becomes a reasonable concern. We cannot wait until the storm is directly overhead or already causing dangerous conditions.

Weather Decisions

Weather conditions and forecasts can change rapidly. If Cabana Boy Rockaway determines that equipment must be removed due to thunderstorms, lightning, high winds, or other dangerous weather, we will proceed with the breakdown and removal of all equipment.

This may occur even if the storm later changes direction, weakens, or does not ultimately produce the amount of rain or wind that was forecast.

Our priority is preventing injury, protecting our customers and staff, and complying with beach safety requirements.

No Refunds or Credits

Cabana Boy Rockaway does not provide refunds, partial refunds, or credits due to weather-related interruptions, early breakdowns, or beach evacuations.

Our rental service includes the delivery, setup, equipment preparation, maintenance, and breakdown of your rental. The rental is not based solely on the number of hours that the equipment physically remains on the beach.

Once our team has delivered and set up the equipment, we have already performed a substantial portion of the service being provided.

Therefore, if weather conditions require us to remove the equipment early, the rental remains non-refundable.

Customer Cooperation

If Cabana Boy Rockaway staff determines that equipment must be removed, customers are expected to cooperate with the breakdown and evacuation process.

Equipment must be cleared from the beach promptly so that our staff can safely remove it and comply with beach safety requirements.

We understand that an unexpected weather evacuation can be frustrating. However, these decisions are made for safety and are sometimes required by the Parks Department. We cannot control the weather, and we cannot make exceptions to safety requirements.

Important

By booking with Cabana Boy Rockaway, customers acknowledge and agree to this Rainy Day & Severe Weather Policy, including the requirement that rentals may be ended early due to dangerous weather and that no refunds, partial refunds, or credits will be issued for weather-related interruptions or evacuations.
